Project: Bespoke Training Courses
Development and delivery of a several training courses which were designed specifically for senior local government officers from a range of African and Asian countries; the officers visited the UK as part of a major two week training programme. Rachel believes strongly that training should be interactive, participatory and practical; the participants should leave knowing how they can apply what they have learned to their actual role.
The courses provided practical approaches to managing a range of issues. Courses included:
- Community Participation in Public Policy - how to include communities when developing public policies and the benefits of including service users when designing pubic services
- Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) - included practical approaches to identifying and mitigating environmental and social impacts. Participants were tasked with activities such as identifying potential impacts on their current projects
- Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) for Environmental Projects - the focus was on case studies from Africa and Asia in order to demonstrate useful approaches to M&E
